NOTHING WILL WORK NYE 2015_02[Image credit: ©MadebyMolu]

So here ends another year. 2015.

And as I sit here on the last day of the year, just a few hours left before I step into 2016, I can’t help but reflect on the last 12 months, which has undeniably flown by way quicker than I had ever imagined! So quick, i’ve honestly not had the chance to stop, reassess or reflect on how things have been.

2015 has been a big year for me – as most of you know, having finally taken the plunge to go solo, starting anew and forging a new creative path as a freelance graphic designer and event stylist has probably been the biggest thing I’ve done (probably since getting married!) While I’ve been incredibly fortunate of the opportunities that have come my way this year and for the new relationships that have blossomed from it….I wont be lying when I say it’s been one helluva rollercoaster of a ride too. With the ups come the downs of pursuing a creative venture on your own. Having to put all that faith into one large step in the direction of the unknown is one thing but the act of juggling both work and life seemed the more herculean task of all particularly after my husband followed suit later this year, setting up his own architectural office!

So, while it’s been quite the eventful year in good ways, the adjustments we have had to make has, admittedly, been tough too.   Understandably so when you’re both working hard to find your footing while also trying to make sure it doesn’t take a massive toll on our personal lives. Thankfully, our mere determination to follow our hearts and the inspiration we sought from others (many of them we know) who’ve boldly done the same before us, has gotten us through so far. I can only show my utmost gratitude to them and of course, to all our families and friends who’ve supported us in many ways than one…..even when we constantly drop off the radar for months! Not to mention you lovely readers – you’re comments and likes, however small, are always uplifting and encouraging. You have kept us going and we’re here still standing, with the new year over the horizon, come what may.

What does 2016 bring? Well, it’s no doubt going to be another big one as we enter into our second year being self-employed and continue to build our future from the ground up. It’s scary but exhilarating too just as long as we keep reminding myself of why we started this journey in the first place and of all the good things that come out of the ventures we embarked on. Hopefully, from everything we’ve learnt in the last year, we’ll have a better hold of our reins as we continue forwards into the less travelled path. I for one will be consciously focusing on growing my graphic design services with more lettering, sign-painting and installation work while the blog continues to be my personal outlet for all things DIY. I know the latter has been left on the back burner due to the demands our new roles had. I have decided to not take on any new wedding projects with the only exception being the one-off bespoke styling work for editorial work or the creation of bespoke signage installations or backdrops. While I continue to embrace my ‘jack of all trades’ trait, I intend to hone it in more so its clear, focused and concise in order for me to grow. My long-awaited dreams of opening a print shop on the side will also hopefully materialise in 2016…. so yea, I’m excited to see what the future holds! I truly believe that if you put your heart and soul into what you want to do, you’ll make it happen…however trying the journey may be. So lets hope everything pans out well!

Anyway, I wish you all the very best for the new year ahead and I sincerely hope it’s a bright and promising year all round for us!

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! xxx
